The novel Clinical Lies tells about the soul-searching of two young people, medical student Mirjam and young doctor Villem, and their striving to cope with their lives and losses in spite of everything. Mirjam, who is suffering from the chronic disease lupus, is hiding her condition from people close to her. Only increasingly adrenaline-rich situations make her feel alive, and with her efforts to spare her close ones and herself, she gets entangled in a growing web of lies. Villem has chosen to overcome a personal loss by dedicating himself to mysticism and giving up earthly pleasures.
The meeting of Mirjam and Villem reawakens a desire for love in both, which both thought they had long lost, and which they try to deny at all costs.
